This calendar lists important timelines for seniors to follow throughout the year.

September

  • Schedule a post-secondary education conference with your counselor, if needed.
  • Use the BAHS post-secondary visitation form and begin scholarship information search.
  • Register for the SAT I, SAT II or ACT tests, if needed.
  • Attend post-high school representative visits.
  • Use FASTWEB.COM and/or COLLEGEBOARD.COM for college and financial aid searches.
  • Work on drafts of application essay.
  • Begin applying to post-secondary schools, colleges, and universities.
  • If planning to participate in College athletics, complete the NCAA Clearinghouse registration forms and have SAT scores sent to the NCAA Clearinghouse.

October/November

  • Continue to meet with post-high school representatives.
  • Finalize set of schools to which you will apply.
  • Mark down application deadlines.
  • Register for SAT I, SAT II or ACT tests, if needed.
  • Call college admissions offices and arrange campus visits. Follow the guidelines for a successful campus visit from the guidance office.
  • Continue applying to post-secondary schools, colleges, and universities.
  • Be aware that November 30 is the preferred application deadline for the Pennsylvania system colleges.

December

  • Check with teachers to be sure they have mailed your recommendations with December deadline dates (in the stamped addressed envelope you provided).
  • Submit applications to post-secondary schools, colleges, and universities.

January

  • Check with each college you are applying to, to see if they have their own financial aid questionnaires, which must be completed to receive aid.
  • Apply for appropriate scholarships.

February/March

  • Attend Financial Aid Night/workshop.
  • File the Federal Financial Aid Form (FAFSA) if you seek financial aid (be sure to mail it ASAP in early February.)
  • Have official copies of your transcript showing your first semester senior grades, sent to all colleges you are applying to. Make sure counselor has mid-year report forms if you are applying to private colleges.

April

  • Continue to apply for scholarships, especially check for local, school scholarships that come up quickly during the months of April and May.

May

  • Complete the “Senior Survey” form informing your counselor of all college decisions.
  • Notify your counselor of the all the awards and scholarships you have been awarded.
  • Apply for Brockway Student Loan monies of $1200 per year.
